ONEFIVE BOOSTS THE KATANA PS LASER SERIES WITH MULTI-COLOR SINGLE-BOX PULSED EXCITATION LASERS FOR THE NOBEL AWARDED STED MICROSCOPY TECHNOLOGY.

Onefive GmbH continues the efforts into the development of pulsed ps laser sources for microscopy and several other applications. After customizing the Katana-08 HP as depletion STED laser for super-resolution microscopy, for which the company signed an exclusive supplier agreement with Leica Microsystems, Onefive releases a new series of single-box multi-color ps laser systems.

Given the increasing demand for multi-wavelength excitation lasers for microscopy, the Katana HP fiber laser sources now come together in a single packaging solution to provide multi-color laser sources. The first dual-color excitation system, at 532 nm and 635 nm, has been already tested and integrated with the STED depletion laser at 775 nm to offer Leica Microsystems a complete laser solution for STED microscopy.

Zürich, Switzerland – Onefive GmbH and Leica Microsystems have signed an exclusive agreement on a pulsed STED depletion laser at 775 nm, which will allow Leica STED super-resolution microscope to achieve sub-30 nm resolution in a simple and cost-effective manner . Under the terms of the agreement, Onefive GmbH will be the exclusive supplier of the STED depletion laser – the Katana-08 HP. Onefive will also provide Leica with dual-color single-box excitation lasers.

Onefive’s picosecond laser platform Katana-08 HP, which has been available in the market since 2010 has been further streamlined to STED applications to deliver 600 ps pulses to enhance the performance of the Leica’s super-resolution microscope system Katana-08 HP (STED 3X). Operating as STED beam at 775 nm in pulsed regime, the Katana-08 HP allows to achieve sub-30 nm resolution and can reveal details in multicolor co-localization that have not been visible before [1].

Zürich, Switzerland – The group of Digital and Microwave Photonics at CNIT (Italian Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications), led by Dr. Antonella Bogoni, developed the first photonics-based fully digital radar (PHODIR). The system, whose novelty has been recognized with a publication in Nature journal [1] and already reported also in newspapers [2], is based on the use of a single Onefive femtosecond mode-locked laser, for both the radio-frequency generation and the sampling. This approach leads to the realization of a fully optics-based transceiver with the use of a single femtosecond source, significantly reducing the costs of the system while increasing its performance significantly.

Onefive GmbH has been selected as a partner of the APPOLO Project (Hub of Application Laboratories for Equipment Assessment in Laser Based Manufacturing). APPOLO is a collaborative project of the European 7th Framework Programme (FP7). The consortium consists of 21 partners from 8 different countries. The main goal of the project is to develop cutting-edge novel equipment for sensor and laser based material processing.
